Habibganj Railway Station under West Central Railway is the first railway station in India to be developed into a world class railway station with state-of-the-art facilities together with efficient passenger movement and traffic management systems developed through advanced simulation systems. The concept of this unique contract that has been awarded by IRSDC to a Consortium of M/s Bansal Construction Works Pvt. Ltd. (Lead Member) and M/s Prakash Asphaltings & Toll Highways (India) Ltd. (Consortium Member) is based upon using revenues generated through leveraging of commercial development of surplus railway land and the air space above railway tracks. A team of consultants assisting IRSDC in this effort comprised a Consortium of GMP International GmbH, Germany and Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats Pvt. Ltd. India as the Architect and Technical Consultant, Ernst & Young LLP as the Financial Consultant and Transaction Advisor and Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. as the Legal Consultant. The Development Agreement was signed on 14th July 2016 at Rail Bhavan, New Delhi under the auspices of the Railway Minister - Mr. Suresh Prabhu, the MoS Railways - Mr. Manoj Sinha, Chairman Railway Board - Mr. A. K. Mittal, Member Engineering Railway Board - Mr. A. K. Mittal, Member Traffic Railway Board - Mr. Mohd. Jamshed, Advisor Land & Amenities, Railway Board - Mr. Rajeev Choudhry, Delegates from state of Madhya Pradesh and the Press. Photographs of the event can be seen below.
